Interpretable Fault Detection in Industrial Pumps Using Gradient-Boosted Trees

Abstract

Using two years of telemetry from 140 pumps, we trained gradient-boosted models that flagged bearing faults a median of nine days before failure while providing feature attributions that maintenance teams found actionable.
